House Design of the Week

Big surprise - for our house of the week we picked a white clapboard house! This charming house was built in 1920 and is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of Buckhead. It has been renovated by Norman Askins and is for sale - see the listing here.

We love this house because of the wonderful scale and pretty setting. The house is not too big - it's just right. It has so many quality details and gracious rooms.

The front door detail is to die for!

And look - black and white check entrance area

Love this back view - it just looks like home.

Please visit the listing page for more photos and information. The house is on a 3/4 -1 acre lot and is extremely well priced! Studie Young has the listing.

all images from the real estate listing.

We are not being compensated in any way for this post - we just love the house.

Kitchen Artistic Design

One of the things I did over the long weekend was watch a bunch of movies that I had been wanting to see for a long time. One of them was the hilarious and heart breaking It's Complicated with Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin.

I always notice set design in movies, but this one in particular really pulled me in. I wanted to be in that house, eating a meal cooked by Jane (Streep's character) and get comfy in that living room. The house has an easy elegance that is welcoming and comfortable. The kitchen was wonderful because it wasn't perfect. It feels European and relaxed. Some images from Universal Pictures and Traditional Home:

Tonight I'm cooking Jake's favorite meal from the movie- Roasted Chicken, green beans and potatoes. My DH will be thrilled! If it's all beautiful I'll take photos and post them tomorrow.
